AUSTRALIA Post (AAPL) is facing its own problems as the state government struggles to find the cash to maintain its ageing fleet of trains.
The state government is running out of cash to fund its ageing trains, which are now in the final stages of their life.
The ACT Government has confirmed it is planning to shut down all its rail services by the end of 2020, leaving passengers without any options for travel.
The last train on the ACT Rail network, the East West Train, will shut down in 2019.
The State Government is now planning to build two new rail lines, each running a distance of more than 500 kilometres, on the same land and at the same times.
The trains will operate at full capacity during peak periods, but passengers will have no choice but to board at stations close to home.AAP: James MacdonaldTopics:government-and-politics,government-to-government,parliament,aesthetics,aussies-and‑federal-governmentContact Nick Curnow
